Whether you're a culture vulture, market lover or outdoors type, London has something for everyone come rain or shine. What's more, most of its top sites are free. Here are five must-sees that don't cost a penny.

Museums and galleries

London is blessed with an array of fantastic museums and art galleries—most of which are free. Archaeology lovers will adore the British Museum, housing relics such as the Rosetta Stone and real Samurai armour. Art and design enthusiasts must head to the famous National Gallery, for classic masterpieces by Van Gogh and Diego Velazquez among many others, and to the Tate Modern for the cutting edge in modern art. Nature lovers will be mesmerised by the Natural History Museum's collection of dinosaur fossils.

The great outdoors

London is one of the greenest cities in Europe, with parks so expansive that you can easily forget you're in a city. Head to Richmond Park to spot deer or marvel at the giant Pagoda in Battersea Park. Hyde Park and Regent's Park often host concerts, outdoor theatre productions and events, so why not see what's on and pack a picnic?

Eat, browse and buy at the markets

There's a market for everyone in London. Portobello Market is famous for antiques and collectables, Borough Market sells delicious food and produce and Columbia Road Market is the one for you if you love flowers and plants!

Walk through history

London is dripping with history at every corner. From the Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace to everything in between. Why not download a history app and go on a self-guided tour? Take a look at ScrollOn or VoiceMap for audio tour guides.
